The space
Klipkopje Farm
Nestled on the tranquil shores of Longmere Dam in the heart of Mpumalanga, Klipkopje Farm is a place where nature sets the pace and time slows down.
Home to rolling hills, indigenous bush, open grasslands and abundant birdlife, the farm invites you to step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with the outdoors. Spend your days wandering the walking trails, swimming in the dam, watching wildlife gather along the shoreline or simply soaking in the stillness from your private deck.
The Luxury Tent has been thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in the landscape rather than separate them from it. Here, mornings begin with mist drifting across the water and birdsong echoing through the trees, while evenings are spent around the fire beneath some of the clearest star-filled skies.
Built in 2016, the tent is a Bushtec Safari "Fish Eagle" design, combining the romance of an authentic safari tent with the comforts of a thoughtfully curated retreat. Positioned to capture the warmth of the afternoon sun, its generous deck overlooks Longmere Dam with uninterrupted views and not a soul in sight but the farm's resident wildlife. A private fire pit, just a short walk from the tent, offers the perfect place to watch the sunset, listen to the chorus of nearby birdlife and end the day beneath a sky filled with stars.
Resident zebra, impala, blesbok, Egyptian geese and ducks roam freely across the farm, while more than 50 bird species call Klipkopje home. Every season brings something different, making each stay unique.
While beautifully appointed and exceptionally comfortable, Klipkopje remains a working farm where authenticity is part of the experience. Expect gravel roads, the occasional visit from curious wildlife, changing weather and the peaceful sounds of nature replacing the buzz of city life.
Please note that the Luxury Tent welcomes guests aged 12 years and older. The property features open water, elevated decks, stairs, uneven terrain and free-roaming wildlife, making it better suited to older children and adults.
The tent is ideal for both weekend escapes and longer stays. Whilst every effort is made to ensure your comfort, staying at Klipkopje is about embracing the beauty of life in nature. As we're located on a farm, occasional weather-related power interruptions can occur, which may temporarily affect the air conditioning and refrigeration. The final stretch to the tent is along an unpaved gravel road, and we recommend arriving in an SUV or vehicle with good ground clearance, particularly after heavy rainfall. Parking is conveniently located within 10 metres of the tent.
Fresh linen and bath towels are provided, but this isn't a five-star hotel with nightly turndown service. Instead, it's an authentic nature experience where birds may occasionally leave their mark, wildlife wanders freely, and nature is very much part of your stay. We think that's exactly what makes Klipkopje so special.
