Perched high among indigenous forest canopy, The View is an architect-designed timber cottage where the boundary between indoors and outdoors dissolves. Wake to sweeping panoramas of the Knysna Estuary and the Heads framed by floor-to-ceiling windows — from your bed.

One half of this elevated platform is a generous open-plan living space: a king-size sleeping area (two singles placed together for cloud-like comfort), a cosy sofa that folds out for a third guest, and a fully equipped kitchenette with rich timber countertops, two-plate stove, microwave, bar fridge, and four stools at a window bar where every meal comes with an estuary view.

The other half is pure Garden Route living — a large private covered veranda with a comfortable lounge set, four-seat dining table, and charcoal braai for long evenings under the trees. Step through to a striking open-air bathroom with freestanding bath, double vanity, and forest glimpses through bamboo-lined walls. Air conditioning keeps things perfect year-round.

We currently live and work in Cape Town South Africa, in the hospitality industry. My wife and I love exploring whenever the opportunity arrises.
